Collection, ca. 1900 - ca. 1930, of materials related to Hopper's research on the Manhattanville Free School and on the local history of Harlem. The material includes printed ephemera, typescripts of Hopper's articles, notebooks, maps, clippings, and photographs. The photographs are early twentieth-century prints reproducing nineteenth-century photographs and drawings of Harlem and of people in the area. They include portraits of Daniel F. Tiemann and his family, of Nichaolas F. Tiemann, and of Hopper's father, Isaac A. Hopper; there is also a group portrait of teachers at P.S. 43 in the 1880s.
